Hello and WelcomeI am Dr Kelly Young, a Chartered Counselling Psychologist and Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist based in York and Wetherby. I am highly qualified and skilled with 15 years of experience in helping adults overcome their difficulties and build the life they want. I am trained and experienced in a number of evidence based therapies; CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), CFT (Compassion Focused Therapy) and ACT (Acceptance & Commitment Therapy). I have a wealth of experience working in NHS and private settings, integrating a range of different therapies. I can provide long- and short-term evidence based therapy in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space for you to explore your difficulties and make the changes you wish to make. I strongly believe that every individual is unique which means that I will tailor your therapy to suit your needs. I won't just listen, I will be with you every step of the way and actively work with you to help you overcome the difficulties you are facing. My aim is to help you to develop strategies for managing your difficulties on a daily basis so you will be able to continue using these skills beyond therapy. Therapy appointments can either be online via a video platform, so you can access therapy in the comfort of your own home, or in-person in a lovely therapy room in the centre of Wetherby, West Yorkshire. Please get in touch with me via the contact page, and I can help you decide if therapy is for you at this time and how I may be able to help you. |
CBT
CBT is a short-term therapy which focuses on your current situation. It explores how your thoughts, feelings, physical sensations and behaviours are connected. It can show how negative thoughts and unhelpful behaviours might be maintaining your difficulties by trapping you in a vicious cycle.

AppointmentsAppointments are available online and in person at Wetherby Therapy Rooms, High Street, Wetherby.

PsychologyPsychology is the scientific study of people, the mind and behaviour. Many of the problems we face in daily life are rooted in human behaviour, so psychological knowledge can help us to find solutions.
